About Media Zoo

Media Zoo is one of the UK’s leading communications companies with a blue chip client base. They specialise in film, PR, learning, media training, digital marketing and design. Founded in 2003 by a small team of senior BBC journalists and PR executives, Media Zoo has grown to over 100 people across five sites in London, Glasgow and Zurich.

About BGF

Business Growth Fund (BGF) is an independent private equity company with up to £2.5 billion in capital. The fund initially invests between £2m and £10m into privately owned and AIM-listed, profitable companies providing growth capital in the form of long-term equity investment.

About the deal

BGF’s investment will enable Media Zoo to expand further both nationally and internationally and double in size over the next three years as well as launch Zoo+, its creative partnership outsourcing solution.

Rachel Pendered, Managing Director at Media Zoo says, “This investment is key to Media Zoo moving to the next level. Our clients are demanding a new way of working when it comes to digital learning, rapid content creation and access to world class creative output. This funding means we will be able to roll out our Zoo+ proposition as a creative and digital disrupter with a different way of doing things”.

BGF, which exists to support fast growth UK businesses, was attracted to Media Zoo by its track record and ambitious growth plans. It was also impressed with the company’s brand values, team ethos and commitment to using its creativity as a force for good.

Our work

We acted as financial adviser to BGF on their minority investment into Media Zoo.

We were delighted with the support that WY Partners provided throughout the process. The team gave insightful, sector-specific advice, which was invaluable for the financial aspects of the transaction. It was a pleasure to work with WY Partners and we look forward to doing so again in the future.
